We start the hike from the front door of our guesthouse, descending to Botorog Fountain. From here, we hike mainly through forests and alpine meadows to the summit of Piatra Mica (5,958ft/1,816m), where we can take a moment to enjoy 360-degree views over unbroken forests towards Brasov.
We then descend through rocky patches and scree, sometimes using ropes, to Cabana Curmatura, our home for tonight. Staying here gives us more time for tomorrow’s hike, a longer day in which we complete the trail and tackle Ascutit.
