Start your day off with a short drive into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited national park in all of the USA. Straddling the New Mexico and Texas state line, the town was originally built in 1903 as a siding for the Rock Island railway line but began to collapse after the construction of Route 66. It's equally quiet and fascinating and you'll learn all about the town's unique history before moving on to the Cadillac Ranch, just outside of Amarillo. An iconic stop on Route 66 and a tribute to America's love affair with cars, the Ranch has 10 Cadillacs buried face down and travelers are encouraged to leave their mark on them.
