A 'MUST' whilst you're there?
@Ourtwostepstart's Top Tips
"Research your budget! Costa Rica was a surprisingly expensive country, so we would always recommend to see budget options! We found hostels and local vendors selling casados, a great option to save!"
The BEST animals to see?
"Of course a sloth! But please do your research on ethical animal tourism. Wild macaws are also really cool! A native animal to Costa Rica is the majestic jaguar... but they are endangered."
What do you love most about Costa Rica?
"How green it is! This country is bursting with colour and nature - ready to be explored!"
Food to try and why?
"Casado! This is a vibrant dish full of flavour, consisting of rice, beans, a choice of meat or fish, salad and maybe even plantain! We miss this dish so much and could honestly eat it daily."

What do you love most about Zona Arqueológica de Calakmul?
"Where to begin! I have been to over 40 archaeological sites in Mexico and this definitely tops the list. When I arrived early in the morning we literally had the whole place to ourselves."
@matthewlockphotography's Top Tips
"It isn't easy to get to Calakmul with the closest town being a two-hour drive away. While you can get a taxi from Xpujil, it will cost around 1,200 so I would suggest renting a car, the drive is easy."
Benefits of a tour guide for Zona Arqueológica de Calakmul
"Getting a guide takes away the stress of getting to Calakmul and they will know the best spots to see wildlife. If you want to know more of the history, there are guides when you arrive at Calakmul."
A 'MUST' whilst you're there?
@matthewlockphotography's Top Tips
"Get there early to have a better chance to see wildlife, as well as on the route to get there. There are more sites to visit around Xpujil, for example Becan."

What do you love most about Oaxacan coast?
"How peaceful some of the hidden beaches are compared to other places in Mexico like Cancún."
A 'MUST' whilst you're there?
@matthewlockphotography's Top Tips
"While there is transportation that you can take, it isn't exactly reliable. I would suggest renting a car so that you are free to explore some of the virgin beaches."
Favourite time of year to visit Oaxacan coast
"Pretty much year-round. If you want to catch a sight of turtle breeding then I would suggest July to December. There are many beaches along the coast which offer a chance to release baby turtles."
Benefits of a tour guide for Oaxacan coast
"If you opt for a boat tour, you will be able to visit some beaches that aren't accessible from the land. You also need a guide to release the baby turtles."

Why is it called the Mayan Face Mirador?
"From a distance, this unique rock formation looks like a Mayan lying down facing the sky. When visiting the lake, you can see this from most spots around San Pedro and San Juan."
How's the trek to the top?
"It's an early rise and for the most part a dark walk. Our group all had their phone torches on! Once you do reach the top it is totally worth it, this view of the lake will stay with me forever."
What do you love most about Mayan Face Mirador?
"Once you are at the top and the sun has begun to rise, you will get an incredible view of the lake and the surrounding volcanoes. The guide will also start making some coffee, perfect spot for it!"
A 'MUST' whilst you're there?
Is visiting the Mayan Face Mirador worth it?
"Absolutely! The walk is not difficult, the views speak for themselves and by the time you are walking back down, the sun will have risen and you will hopefully get to see the rays splitting the trees!"
